Weekly Update from your local Bablake NPT

Here’s your weekly update from myself and the rest of the team.
What’s Been Happening With the nights now starting to draw in, please protect your home and belongings against opportunist burglars and thieves. Our key advice to you is - ‘Lock up’. You can make your house much less tempting to would-be burglars by making it look occupied, even when you are out. Use timer switches to make lights come on as it gets dark, and close curtains and blinds, so your valuables can’t be seen from outside.
Doorstep Theft Keeping things out of sight, a milk and eggs delivery to a local shop was stolen in the early hours of Tuesday 18th August 2026. We do occasionally receive reports where residential homes have had milk stolen from the doorstep. Some simple deterrents can deter this type of theft such as getting a lockable milk safe or arranging with your milk man, a hidden delivery spot. Doorstep theft is often opportunistic and committed by passers-by, so it's best to have any deliveries left out of sight.
Anti-Social Behaviour Mentioning eggs, we have received complaints of children chucking eggs at cars across the four wards. This has happened on HOLBROOK LANE, WASTE LANE and GREENSLEEVES CLOSE. We have been carrying out ASB patrols at these locations and speaking to local shop owners to restricting sales. Shop owners can legally refuse sales if they suspect an item will be used to cause anti-social behaviour.
Community Protection Warning A male who has been plaguing local book makers in the area with his drunken antics and nuisance behaviour has been given a Community Protection Warning. Following bookies issuing their own banning orders, removal by us on several occasions and verbal warnings, nothing has been heeded. To protect staff and customers from feeling persistently unsafe we have escalated our powers which has resulted in this official warning.
Metal theft A new build site has been targeted for copper theft. Residential properties undergoing renovations can also suffer from this too and be an interest to criminals due to materials and tools left in situ especially if the property is vacant. Add extra security such as boardings, temporarily fencing and extra lighting. Protect tools by using secure tool storage and marking them. Keep high value items off site until needed.
Ticket Scams As the August bank holiday is approaching, this weekend thousands will be flocking to festivals and attending football fixtures as the season kicks off. Criminals use major sports fixtures, concerts and festivals to advertise fake tickets or tickets that don’t exist. Our Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) are helping to raise awareness of these ticket scams. For further advice - ticket scams
Crime figures Over the past nine days, there have been two theft from vehicles on TAMWORTH ROAD and HALIFAX CLOSE, two theft of vehicles from HOLLOWAY FIELDS (Ford Kuga) and NORMAN PLACE ROAD (Ford Puma). Three business burglaries have been reported off BENNETTS ROAD.
